This past week I returned home from a trip to Florida. Florida is called the “Sunshine State,” I learned—and it was without sunshine during my visit. Interesting? No, not really. That’s just how things are sometimes.
I used to take week or two-week long trips often, and I would leave Wilbur—the older of my two cats—without a companion. (Someone would visit to fill his dishes, of course.) He’s always been a lap cat, a snuggler. Yet these are just ways of saying that he needs (or: wants) a lot of attention. And that’s all right, most of the time. When I’d be away, though, sometimes I’d really worry that he was OK.
I worry less these days, and not just because I travel less. Ozni—the younger of my two cats—was welcomed into the family in February of last year. Much to my delight, the two of them get along really well. Can’t you see from this picture? You can if you take a moment to pause. Just a moment, that’s all—stop and reconnect to where you are.
They are adorable!❤️
